For 2023 my husband and I decided on one of my favorite New Year’s resolutions yet—Monthly Date night!!! My parents live local to us in Kittanning of Armstrong County, his mother and stepdad live in the South Hills, and his dad and stepmom live in the North Hills. We informed them of all of our plans and told them we would need their help on a babysitting rotation! So what is there to do in Pittsburgh for a date night? Here are my top 7 ideas!
- Pittsburgh glass center, around the Lawrenceville area. We did a flameworking class and made wine bottle stoppers! There are other class options like glass blowing, and other options to make within the flamework class too. This was one of the more expensive dates, but also one of the most memorable, and we also have maybe about 10 stoppers we made between the two of us that we can always remember the day by! I would do it again in a heartbeat!
2. A day in the strip, going indoor golfing at OnPar Now, an indoor golf simulation where you can golf on hundreds of courses and put on a green that can simulate any of those greens! They have clubs to use for free in case you don’t have your own, and light refreshments are available to purchase. Before, or after this, we like to go to The Olive Tap just across the street and sample olive oils and balsamic vinegar and seasonings, and then buy a whole bunch to bring home!
3. Mexican Restaurants. The kids like boring generic tacos, and only on occasion. So we went to Emiliano’s in Bethel Park just off rt. 88 and had tacos, salsa, queso, chips, margaritas, all the good spicy stuff the kids like to whine about!
4. A night at the Sheraton in station square. Check into the hotel, nap in the LUXURIOUS beds with lovely down comforters, and an amazing view to wake up to! Then get ready and go to dinner at Bucca Di Peppo, where you spend the night stuffing yourselves with Italian foods galore, and of course dessert!
5. Also in Station Square, dinner at The Melting Pot. This was quite the experience. We needed to be rolled out of there, we were SO full! We had heard from people about how “they only give you bites of food and you have to cook it all yourself” so we went in with a preconceived not-so-positive notion. BOY, WERE WE WRONG! Everything was absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to go back there! The drinks were phenomenal, all 4 courses of dinner were phenomenal, and the service was also!
6. Zone 28 off the Harmarville exit towards Oakmont. They have arcade games, bowling, food, laser tag, etc! Definitely a fun time, and a good family place if you must take the kids along too!
7. Hofbrahaus in the Southside. If you’ve never been here, this place has it all! Food, drinks, entertainment! The beer is obviously a big deal here, the food is incredible authentic German-style, and so is the live music played by the band!
Get yourself a babysitter, and go date your partner!
