Indoor Play Time Activities For Kids

What can we do when we have exhausted our options in the playroom and the temperature is single digits or too wet outside? Here are my Top 5 Indoor Play Areas in Pittsburgh!

My two little ones and I have been having fun exploring different places around Pittsburgh that are indoors. This has really helped us find different places to go to as well as make friends with other moms and kids.

How did we get started?

We began with making it a goal to go to a different library each week. It is fun to go to the different programs libraries offer. The possibilities are endless. There are all kinds of programs such as story time, yoga for kids, crafts and active programs that involve lots of movement and laughter. It is helpful to look up what is offered in advance as some libraries do require registration.

As we continued with our little adventures each week, I was on a quest to find more places to go to in addition to libraries. In addition to all the wonderful libraries, I am happy to stay there are many options all around the city.  Here are some ideas:

Lilliput Towne Center

This is a fun indoor space that it built like a little town for kids. It has different stations like a hair salon, animal hospital, grocery store, art gallery, a bistro and gas station allowing your little ones to let their imaginations run free. This is a lovely place to visit anytime.

 The Seesaw Center

This is an indoor play center for kids of all ages. They offer a plethora of different toys for kids. My kids had a hard time deciding what to play with since there are so many options. There are different options such as slides, sensory bins, books, Legos, costumes to play with and they even have snacks and coffee available for parents.

Gymsport Athletic Center

They offer preschool playtime during weekdays for the little ones to play in their jungle gym and let their energy out. They have slides, balance beams, open play areas and even a zip line with a foam pit underneath. My kids loved hanging from the still rings, walking on the balancing and diving into the foam pits. They certainly had a great time and were fast asleep by the time we returned home.

Poppins Playhouse

Another wonderful place to visit that features many different activities and items for both kids and parents to enjoy. They offer different play stations such as the theater district, an art gallery, the big idea lab, fire department and an animal hospital to name a few. They also have different toys, puzzles, books and activities that make it hard to pick a choice.

Urban Air Adventure Park

To round out the Top 5 indoor play areas in Pittsburgh, we found Urban Air Adventure Park. There’s so many different activities including multiple trampoline areas, indoor playground with slides (for big kids and small), zipline, rockwall and obstacle course. Everyone in our family had so much fun!
