A Letter to My Preschool Graduate

Note: Post originally from Pittsburgh Moms Blog written by former contributor.

Hi Baby girl,

I can't believe you graduated from Preschool and will soon embark on your Kindergarten journey. I want you to know how proud you have made mommy and daddy!

It is sometimes hard for me to accept that you are growing up but I am so excited to see all of the wonderful things you will accomplish in your life. Always remember that mommy and daddy will be with you every step of the way! Here are some things mommy always wants you to remember:

  • You know how you said in your speech that you want to be a mommy and a doctor when you grow up? Of course you can be anything you want to be. I am sure you will change your mind plenty of times, you may even doubt if you can accomplish those goals. But always remember that you have to follow your heart and do what TRULY makes you happy.

  • I want you to always be confident in your decisions. You are a super girl who can do anything you want to do. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't make your dreams come true. Mommy and daddy will always be your biggest cheerleaders and if anyone tries to ever bring you down....well they will have to deal with this momma bear.

  • Always be kind. I loved seeing how you clapped for each and every one of your classmates when they received their diploma and talked about their dreams of being ice cream makers, mommies, wrestlers, vets, and gardeners. We work hard to teach you to be accepting of others who are different than you are, and to be kind. In today's world we need more love and kindness, and I love how caring you are at such a young age.

  • Always know your worth. You are strong, intelligent, kind, assertive, and sensitive. I love all of these things about you because it makes you the beautiful little girl that you are. As you enter the big new world of Kindergarten, I am sure it can be intimidating at first. It will be a whole new school with new faces. Those new faces will turn into friendships, that big new school will feel like home, and all the new things you will learn will help you to become everything you ever want to be.

Congrats Grad! We love you to the moon and back!
