With an incredible first season of Shore Thing winding down, we couldn’t wave goodbye without one Last Splash.
The Last Splash is our heartfelt farewell that celebrates the memories made along the Allegheny River this year and looks ahead to Shore Thing’s return next spring. Alongside live music, food trucks, and family-friendly activities, the day will also feature powerful, playful activations designed by the artists who helped us make this Thing happen; each piece invites us to reflect, connect, and sail forward together.
From industrial barges repurposed into Shore Thing’s platform, trees rooted in fabric planters, to murals like A New Wave by Janel Young symbolizing renewal and momentum, these works highlight the themes of transformation, sustainability, and imagination that are central to Riverlife’s mission. Participants will have the chance to take home a piece of iconic art from Shore Thing’s first season, carrying this time together with us into the future.
Following the main event, there will be an after-party aboard the Shore Thing from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, featuring food and drinks provided by our first-season vendor, BG.
This family-friendly event is open to the public and will include:
Free make-and-take art stations
Face painting
Opportunities to meet and engage with the artists behind the Shore Thing mural and the Pittsburgh Chandelier shade structure
